The Farm
“Shorthorns built Yorkshire. We're just keeping the story going.”
High in the Dales, where limestone walls stitch the hillsides together, James Hartley raises Beef Shorthorns the way his great-grandfather did — slowly, outdoors, on herb-rich upland pasture. The breed matures late and marbles beautifully, giving a sweetness and depth you simply cannot hurry.
Family History
The Hartleys have farmed this valley since 1908. James's grandmother Edith kept the herd going through the war years, and her handwritten breeding ledgers still guide the farm's bloodlines today.
