The Farm
“Red Rubies turn Devon grass into something extraordinary. Always have.”
Edward Blackmore's Red Ruby Devons graze clover-rich pastures a few miles from the north Devon coast, where Atlantic air keeps the grass growing nearly year-round. The breed is famous for its gentle temperament and its beautifully marbled, butter-soft beef — a Devon treasure since the sixteenth century.
Family History
Four generations of Blackmores have farmed here since 1921. Edward's grandfather won the Devon County Show with a Red Ruby bull in 1954 — the rosette still hangs in the farm kitchen.
